The Multiplast boatyard

Since 2003, Multiplast has been installed in its new production unit still in the port of Vannes, on the nautical excellence park just 100 metres upstream from the old yard. The new unit means that the yard can respond to new market requirements, build big high-tech boat and industrial component parts made of composites.

The new premises cover a surface area of 12 000 m². Covered areas of 3000 m² over two modules each of which has a 30 m wide door. Multiplast is therefore able to work on two large-scale pieces simultaneously as was with the maxi catamaran Orange II. Useable headroom of 8.50 m enables large industrial pieces to be assembled "under cover", pieces such spheres for helicopter flight simulators which Multiplast produced for Thales.

   In the new yard,
just three people are needed to handle a 37 m long carbon hull

This doubled up covered area with high performance air conditioning (temperature and hygrometry), offices on two levels, specially designed staff areas and a carefully designed store make for greatly enhanced efficiency and productivity.

As for the old yard, it continues to house the 20 & 50 metre ovens used in producing the various pre-preg elements and in the maintenance of boats built by the yard.

In a little more than 20 years, Multiplast has produced 26 large units and can boast a unique track record in the ocean-going multihull category.
